Part of HU’s top-ranked Faculty of Medicine, The Institute for Medical Research (IMR) on the Ein Kerem campus harnesses the talents and expertise of Israel’s thriving community of leading scientists who take a multidisciplinary approach to medical research and biomedicine.  IMR teams make award-winning achievements in six key areas:

Cardiovascular Disorders:

  • Developing therapies to repair damaged heart muscles and control the growth of blood vessels that feed tumors
  • Among the first worldwide to use genomic data to create effective new drug compounds

Autoimmune and Infectious Diseases:

  • Developing treatments for diseases including AIDS, SARS, avian flu, tuberculosis, asthma, diabetes
  • Developed for the U.S. military’s elite Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the first known countermeasure against a family of lethal superantigen toxins
