51st Annual George A. Katz Torch of Learning Award Virtual Celebration

On April 8, American Friends of the Hebrew University Northeast Region presented the Torch of Learning Award to two leaders of the New York legal community – Stacey R. Friedman, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Stephen M. Cutler, Partner, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP. The virtual event also featured Special Guest, Jamie Dimon, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, JPMorgan Chase & Co., who joined the honorees in conversation.

Pamela Nadler Emmerich, AFHU’s Northeast Region Co-President and HU alumna,  provided the welcoming remarks. Special greetings from HU Faculty of Law were made by Professor Yuval Shany, the Hersch Lauterpacht Chair in Public International Law and former Dean of the Faculty of Law. H. Rodgin Cohen, Senior Chair, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, presented the Torch of Learning Awards, and Jonathan K. Youngwood, Partner, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, shared closing remarks.

The distinguished award commemorates the late George A. Katz, co-founder of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz and a philanthropic leader, dedicated to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the mission of AFHU.
