NE Region Einstein Visionaries Society Luncheon

AFHU’s Northeast Region hosted its fifth annual Planned Giving appreciation luncheon at The Harmonie Club in New York City. More than fifty guests attended from the surrounding metropolitan area – our largest to date!

This year’s program was truly unique with special recognition and speakers. AFHU Northeast Regional Board member, John Bauman, welcomed guests and passed the baton to AFHU’s Chief Executive Officer, Beth McCoy. Beth formally welcomed long-time Board Member Frances Katz to the Einstein Visionary Society for establishing a bequest to endow a Chair at the School of Social Work. Fran’s thank-you remarks paid tribute to her late husband, George Katz (z”l) and his passion for Hebrew University (HU), Israel, and global betterment.

Luncheon guest speakers included former President of HU and Academic Director of the Albert Einstein Archives, Professor Hanoch Gutfreund, and HU Student Ambassador Shai Deutsch. Planned giving expert Neal Myerberg also spoke briefly about changes in tax laws that support philanthropy and planned gifts. Maura Milles, NE Region Associate Director, led a lively Q&A and closed the program.  Afterward, guests were invited to view a special exhibition of Einstein artifacts.

A big thank you also went out to the luncheon co-sponsor, PNC Bank.
