52nd Annual George A. Katz Torch of Learning Award

We were thrilled to gather in person on Tuesday, May 10 for the American Friends of the Hebrew University’s 52nd Annual George A. Katz Torch of Learning Award Luncheon. This year, we proudly honored two distinguished leaders in our legal community, Robert B. Fiske, Jr., Senior Counsel, Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, Former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and Stephanie Goldstein, Global Co-Head of Litigation and Regulatory Proceedings, Goldman Sachs.

The generous support of our donors will help the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU) and its Faculty of Law to educate future leaders, provide pro bono legal services to underserved populations in Israel, and make important contributions to the legal community, locally and globally.

At the luncheon, our guests learned about HU’s dedication to human rights and the rule of law, as well as other exemplary research and centers of excellence, which reflect the university’s preeminence as Israel’s top academic institution and as an international leader.

Program highlights included special greetings from Professor Menahem Ben-Sasson, Chancellor of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Staci Yablon, Event Co-Chair, presented the Torch of Learning Award to Stephanie Goldstein, and Elkan Abramowitz, 1992 Torch of Learning Award Laureate, presented the Torch of Learning Award to Robert B. Fiske, Jr.
