Global Impact, Local Connections

AFHU’s Midwest region hosted Hebrew University Presents: Global Impact, Local Connections on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Chicago Loop Synagogue. Over 70 guests were in attendance to hear Professor Isaiah (Shy) T. Arkin, Arthur Lewja Chair of Structural Biochemistry and Former Vice President, Research and Development; Professor Yaakov (Koby) Nahmias, Director, Alexander Grass Center for Bioengineering and Founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Future Meat Technologies and Tissue Dynamics; and Barak Ben Eliezer, Founder and Managing Partner, WINNOVATION and Former Commander of the IDF’s Elite TALPIOT Program, discuss their innovative research and work.

Guests were captivated by Professor Arkin’s presentation of Hebrew University’s Revolutionary Approach to Integrating Science, Medicine, and Technology; Professor Nahmias’s discussion of Cultured Meat – The Future of Food is Cellular; and Mr. Ben-Eliezer’s talk on the Hebrew University and its IDF Partnerships –  Creating Leaders, Innovators, and Iconoclastic Thinkers.
