Leading into Action

I’ve been honored to know Patty Glaser, AFHU’s Western Region Vice Chair, for the past four years. Through her distinguished legal career, Patty has developed a close connection with the Las Vegas community. When I moved to Las Vegas, to work as an attorney for a gaming & hospitality corporation, Patty shared her vision for making Las Vegas an important part of AFHU’s Western Region. Specifically, Las Vegas has a vibrant Jewish and pro-Israel community and enlisting their support for AFHU would be beneficial for the organization’s mission.

Through Patty, I was introduced to David Chesnoff—one of America’s leading criminal defense attorneys based in Las Vegas. As David’s late brother, Richard, was a proud alumnus of Hebrew University, sharing AFHU with the Las Vegas community means a great deal for David.

Under Patty and David’s leadership, I was honored to help organize an AFHU Scopus Award Gala for Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak—a staunch supporter of Israel—at the elegant Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas. The dinner received widespread support from notable individuals such as Jim Murren (Former CEO of MGM Resorts), Stephen J. Cloobeck (CEO of Diamond Resorts), Brian Greenspun (CEO of the Las Vegas Sun), Alex Yemenidjian (CEO of Oshidori International Development, Ltd.), and Harry Reid (Former U.S. Senator).

While the Scopus Gala has been postponed to 2021 due to Covid-19, with Patty and David’s strong leadership, I’m confident that it will be a memorable event for AFHU and the Las Vegas community.
