Cathie Wood, a member of AFHU’s Northeast regional board, is the CEO and Chief Investment Officer of ARK Invest, which she founded in 2014. Before ARK, Ms. Wood spent 12 years at AllianceBernstein as Chief Investment Officer of Global Thematic Strategies, where she managed $5 billion. She joined the company from Tupelo Capital Management, a hedge fund she co-founded that, in 2000, managed $800 million in global thematic strategies.

Before her tenure there, she worked for 18 years with Jennison Associates as Chief Economist, Equity Research Analyst, Portfolio Manager and Director. Ms. Wood started her career in Los Angeles at the Capital Group as an Assistant Economist. She received her Bachelor of Science summa cum laude in finance and economics from the University of Southern California in 1981. In 2016, Ms. Wood received the Women in Finance Outstanding Contribution Award from Markets Media.

In May 2017, Ms. Wood was a speaker at NEXUS:ISRAEL, an interactive conference in New York presented by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem that brought together leading finance, investment, and business professionals with innovators, entrepreneurs and Nobel Laureates from the spheres of health, agriculture, nanotechnology, environmental and life sciences, and computer science.

Ms. Wood served as an event chair at the 2018 President’s International Business Leadership Forum, a unique 3-day program designed to engage and connect global business leaders with Israeli innovation and ingenuity in Jerusalem, Israel.
