From a German Colony to the Government Quarter

On May 5, 2020, Hebrew University alumni and friends from across the United States and globe tuned in for a Torch Talks webinar to learn about the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s history, specifically between 1948-1967.

Guido Weiss, a Hebrew University alumnus who originated the idea of the webinar, provided an introduction. He briefly detailed his time studying at HU and influenced how the webinar topic came to him. Following Guido, Adi Livny, a Hebrew University Ph.D. student, led participants in a fascinating look at the university after the State of Israel was established through the Six-Day War, when the university was able to return to Mount Scopus.

After the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to ask Adi additional questions as well as some alumni who shared memories of their time as students at HU in the 60s and early 70s.
