Inaugural Stanley M. Bogen Vision Award Dinner in Palm Beach Raises Over $1.5 Million to Support the Hebrew University’s Center for Trauma Recovery

Event Honors American Friends of the Hebrew University Philanthropist Stanley M. Bogen with Performance by Grammy Award Winning Artist Kenny G

American Friends of the Hebrew University’s (AFHU) Southeast Region hosted the inaugural Stanley M. Bogen Vision Award Dinner at The Breakers in Palm Beach, FL, on January 15, 2026. The event raised over $1.5 million in support of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s (HU) Center for Trauma Recovery, as well as students and faculty serving in Israel’s Reserves.

The groundbreaking Institute was founded by a team of mental health professionals to develop new clinical approaches and train therapists to address the unprecedented traumas resulting from the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks and the aftermath.

“The Stanley M. Bogen Vision Award pays tribute to the singular contributions of leaders like Stanley, who have demonstrated a lifetime of commitment, support, and advocacy on behalf of the University, dedicating their wisdom, time, and treasure to honor the past and secure and advance the future of the institution,” said Hebrew University President Tamir Sheafer. “It is one of the highest honors conferred by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.”

For more than six decades, Mr. Bogen has held top leadership roles at both AFHU and the  Hebrew University, including serving as the Chairman of the Board of Governors.

Together with his wife, Roberta, the Bogens have provided generous funding for key HU initiatives, including The Center for Computational Medicine, The Lautenberg Center for Immunology and Cancer Research, the Roberta and Stanley Bogen Library at The Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace, and the Rothberg International School. Mr. Bogen has also supported the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences (ELSC) and the Harvey M. Krueger Family Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Through the Stanley Bogen Student Aid Endowment Fund, he has provided transformative financial assistance to students in need.

Mr. Bogen holds the distinction of being both the youngest person to have served as AFHU President (1977-1980) and the youngest recipient of an Honorary Doctorate from the Hebrew University (1981). He has served as President and Chair of AFHU’s Board of Directors and various committees. Stanley and Roberta are recipients of both the AFHU Scopus Award and the Torch of Learning Award and have been honored as Hebrew University Honorary Fellowship recipients.

Alongside his brother Ernest and late sister Phyllis Rubin (z”l), Stanley established two named chairs at the University in honor of their beloved parents: the Max Bogen Visiting Professorship in Economics and the Marcy Bogen Chair in Academic Excellence. In addition, the Bogen family designated funding from the Max and Marcy Bogen Memorial Endowment Fund to name the Bogen Family Department of Economics and established a chair at the University of Pennsylvania to facilitate academic exchange.

“I am so honored to be a part of this evening honoring Stanley Bogen and raising funds that support the development of new treatments to help the hostages, their families, and Israel as a nation cope with the vast mental health challenges arising from the October 7 attacks,” said Jane Feinstein, AFHU Southeast Region President.

The Dinner Chairs include Mickey Beyer, Kenneth Endelson, Lori and Bruce Gendelman, Michelle and Joseph Jacobs, Roberta and Paul Kozloff, Lisa and Michael Rome, Barbara and Richard Rothschild, Judy and Robert N. Snyder, and Bobbi and Bruce Toll. The Event Chairs include Marjorie and Robert Emden, and Jane and Ronald Zimmerman.

During the evening, guests were treated to a mellifluous performance by Kenny G, the Grammy-winning jazz saxophonist, producer, and composer, in tribute to Mr. Bogen, the Hebrew University, and the State of Israel. A video message from Israel’s President, Isaac Herzog, was also shared, offering a tribute to Mr. Bogen.
