October 13, 2025  – AFHU joins the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU), Israel, and the global Jewish community in welcoming home the hostages who have finally returned after two long and harrowing years in captivity. After a lot of pain, anguish, and waiting, our hearts can finally feel a measure of comfort. We share in the emotion as the hostages return home to their families and look ahead to days of healing and renewal. We continue to hope for the return of the fallen whose bodies remain in Gaza. Even on this day of relief and joy, we remember the civilians and soldiers who were murdered in the war, the families whose grief has no end, and the thousands wounded in body and soul. We honor the brave women and men of Israel’s security forces, among them some 8,000 of HU’s own students, who risked their lives in the longest war in Israel’s history. Their courage will remain forever engraved in our hearts. Chag Sameach and Moadim L’simcha. May this Sukkot bring moments of peace, healing, and shared hope.
