THE CHALLENGES WE’RE WORKING ON

Cardiovascular diseases take 17.9 million lives annually around the world. Solving this global epidemic requires international collaboration.

HOW WE’RE SOLVING THEM

To combat cardiovascular diseases, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU) is building a new partnership with Cleveland Clinic that promises revolutionary treatments and delivery systems for heart disease, as well as other medical conditions.

When fully launched, the partnership will advance heart health by developing more effective drug delivery systems using particles too small for the naked eye to see. This molecular-level engineering aims to achieve the most efficient delivery of medication to support better cardiovascular health.

THE IMPACT OF OUR WORK

Supported by American Friends of the Hebrew University and Cleveland Clinic – the Center for Transformative Nanomedicine is investigating potential treatments that use nanoparticles to reach precise targets. This method of drug delivery reduces collateral damage to healthy tissues, and thus creates better patient outcomes.

ABOUT AFHU

Founded in 1925, AFHU is a national, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, headquartered in New York City. We connect the passions of Americans to the talent at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, one of the world’s most distinguished academic and research institutions. Collectively, its students, faculty, and alumni have won eight Nobel Prizes, developed treatments for diseases, and ignited innovation that has led to more than 8,900 patents.
