Suzy Pence is integrally involved in the business activities of The Pence Group, Inc., which is dedicated to entertaining and assisting the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces of the United States. A graduate of the University of Maryland (B.A., MLS), Suzy fulfills leadership roles for vital civic, cultural, and charitable organizations. She has co-chaired the Kennedy Center NSO Ball as well as the LUNGevity Cancer Gala in support of healthcare and medical research. Suzy and Bob Pence, who is a Trustee Emeritus of American University, received the American University President’s Award for commitment to higher education (2008).
Bob is President of The Pence Group, Inc., a real estate development company headquartered in Virginia. He is the managing member of Grand Duke Hotels and the Dulles Expo Center. Civic and community-minded, he sits on the boards of George Mason University, The Wolf Trap Foundation and the Gary Sinise Foundation, which helps military personnel injured in the line of duty. In 2008, President George W. Bush appointed Bob to the Board of Directors of the Kennedy Center, where he serves on the Executive and International Committees. He received the Leadership Award from the World Affairs Council (2007). Bob is a proud alumnus of the University of Maryland (B.A.) American University (J.D.) and Yale (M.Phil).
Philanthropic leaders in varied spheres, the Pences endowed the naming gift for the American University Law Library and funded study in Italy for high school and college students. They are sponsors of USO events and Kennedy Center Christmas concerts in honor of the U.S. military.
