Stanley and Dr. Marion Bergman actively support organizations fostering the arts, higher education, cultural diversity, grassroots health care and sustainable entrepreneurial economic development initiatives in the United States, Africa and other regions of the world. They have a strong commitment to Israel, the Jewish Community and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Their steadfast support over decades has benefited Hebrew University’s student scholarships and research at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and at the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine.
Stanley is Chairman of the Board and CEO of Henry Schein, Inc., which has been ranked #1 in its industry on Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list for three consecutive years, including first in social responsibility for its Henry Schein Cares activities around the world. Stanley is a board member or advisor for numerous educational, business and cultural institutions. He has received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor; the CR Magazine Corporate Responsibility Lifetime Achievement Award, and honorary degrees and fellowships from King’s College London and Case Western Reserve University, among others. Stanley is co-founder of the India-Israel Forum and is immediate past President of the American Jewish Committee (AJC).
Marion practiced pulmonary medicine and critical care for 33 years. As an advocate for rural health and development in the developing world, Marion now directs health care projects for Miracle Corners of the World, Inc., and is an adjunct assistant professor at New York University’s College of Nursing. Marion directed Brookhaven Memorial Hospital’s Respiratory Care Services and served as medical staff president. She serves on several boards, including the Global Child Dental Fund; American Jewish World Service; Temple University’s Dental School; and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She currently is a member of AJC’s board of governors and chairs the AJC’s Africa Institute.
