Professor Shlomo Magdassi, the incumbent of the Enrique Berman Chair in Solar Energy, is an eminent Professor of Chemistry at Hebrew University’s Casali Center for Applied Chemistry and its Institute of Chemistry. He is a member of the Harvey Krueger Family Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
Professor Magdassi’s groundbreaking research focuses on colloid science with emphasis on the formation, formulation and applications of novel micro and nanoparticles. These particles can be used as active components in functional inks and coating. They can be used as light absorbing particles for solar energy devices, and developed into metal nanoparticles for the purpose of 2D and 3D printing. Professor Magdassi is the editor of three books, among them, The Chemistry of Inkjet Inks. In addition to his numerous scientific publications, he has spearheaded successful inventions related to the application of colloids in industrial products. Professor Magdassi, among his many achievements, developed Glassjet, an inkjet ink for printing on glass. The ink is widely used in architecture and in the automotive industry worldwide.
