American Friends from the Midwest Region were honored as Benefactors, Guardians, Trustees and Founders during a donor recognition reception at the InterContinental Hotel, Chicago, on June 27, 2013. Supporters who had achieved these recognition levels earlier in the year were also acknowledged.  Robert Wertheimer, Midwest Region president, served as the evening’s emcee, and James Matanky, past region president, presented the awards to the honorees.   AFHU Board member and Hebrew University governor, Michael Freed, led a memorial observance in tribute to Mary G. Oppenheim (z”l) and A. Sidney Katz (z”l), Midwest Region Board members who passed away this year.  The evening included a presentation on Andy Warhol: 10 Jews, A Modern Master’s Perspective, by Arthur Feldman, an art appraiser and consultant.
