A prominent business and Jewish communal leader from Chicago, James Matanky is President of Matanky Realty Group and heads the company’s development and brokerage arms. Actively involved in AFHU, James has received the national Scopus Award and is President of the Midwest Region, a member of the national board and a member of AFHU’s Executive and Campaign Committees. He serves as a Governor of The Hebrew University International Board of Governors.
James and his wife Aviva Samet Matanky promote academic opportunities for HU students through scholarship support and advance state-of-the-art brain research. Ambassadors for Hebrew University in their community, James and Aviva frequently host visiting faculty in their home. In tribute to their generosity and leadership, the couple is being recognized on the university’s Wall of Life.
James Matanky is an effective advocate for community growth and revitalization. He has worked with the City of Chicago as a mentor for retail redevelopment, and has served on the Chicago Building Department Commissioner’s advisory panel. He is Chairman of the Chicago Stockyard Commission SSA#13, serves on the executive committee of the JCCs of Illinois, and is a past Chairman of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago Circle Council.
