Herb Sachs is a successful entrepreneur known for his dedication to Israel and the Jewish community. Herb’s involvement with Hebrew University has been a central aspect of his family life for decades. He and his brother Keith are longstanding business partners who share a philanthropic vision in support of Israel. The Sachs brothers led the family company, National Bottle, and later created Saxco International, a worldwide distributor of bottles and packaging. Over the decades, they have advanced cutting-edge medical and scientific pursuits at Hebrew University. The Sachs Family Faculty Development Chair is enabling the university to excel in interdisciplinary brain sciences and recruit outstanding new faculty. Support for life-saving innovation is manifest by the Sachs Family Chair in Computer Science and Engineering, whose incumbent is Professor Amnon Shashua. In memory of their beloved parents, Herb and Keith established the Bernard L. and Mary T. Sachs Chair in Cancer Studies, whose incumbent is Professor Shulamit Katzav-Shapira. The Sachs family will be honored on the Benefactors Wall in 2016 for exceptional contributions in support of The Hebrew University.
