The Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment in Rehovot is Israel’s only university-level institution devoted to basic and applied research and professional education in the fields of agriculture, the environment and veterinary medicine.. The Faculty is the educational home of 2,300 students, and its campus includes classrooms, laboratories, greenhouses, a working farm and dormitories.
During the recent conflict alone, approximately 40 Hamas-fired rockets have fallen in the vicinity of the Rehovot campus.
From the time a siren sounds in Rehovot, residents have exactly sixty seconds to secure themselves in a safe room. Some of the most critical areas of the Rehovot HU campus are located between five and thirty minutes away from a recognized shelter.
AFHU seeks to raise $ 154,000 for ready-made protective shelters that will provide additional safe havens for students, faculty and staff. We are $ 54,000 shy of our needed goal!
American Friends can help. Please consider making a contribution today toward the university’s purchase of protective shelters for its Rehovot campus.
Thank you in advance for contributing to the well-being of our Hebrew University community during these challenging times.
