Shards of History
15 guests joined AFHU and the HU Alumni Association, Dallas Region for an event in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance. HU alumnus, Holocaust refugee, and author of Shards of History, Yoram Eckstein shared his family’s story of escape from Poland as World War II begins, survival in a Soviet labor camp, and exile to Uzbekistan during World War II. Following the discussion, guests viewed the Yad Vashem exhibit Shoah: How was it humanly possible? The event was hosted by HU alumna and professor of biology at Collin College, Amira Shaham-Albalancy.
