A devoted supporter of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and American Friends of The Hebrew University since 2007, Brindell Gottlieb has provided exemplary leadership and philanthropy. A widely respected member of the Los Angeles community, she fulfills prominent roles as a civic and Jewish communal leader who fosters important medical, educational and cultural causes.
Brindell serves as President of AFHU’s Western Region Board of Directors and is a member of AFHU’s National Board. She is a Hebrew University Benefactor and an Associate Governor of the university’s International Board of Governors. In 2012, she received an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of her humanitarianism, leadership and commitment to Israel’s well-being.
Motivated by her love and admiration for her beloved late husband, real estate developer Milton Gottlieb (z”l), and her desire to contribute to the improved diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases, Brindell has generously funded interdisciplinary brain research and faculty recruitment at Hebrew University’s Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences. For eight years she has served as the incomparable hostess of the Western Region’s scholarship fund-raising event, “The Bel Air Affaire.” Since its inception, this signature event has raised nearly $4.5 million for student scholarships.
A dedicated patron of the arts, Brindell is a champion for the Los Angeles Opera and the Center Theatre Group, where she fulfills leadership roles on the board. She supports medical initiatives at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center, The UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute, and the Children’s Burn Foundation. Brindell also supports the work of the Jewish Federation and the American Jewish Committee.
