The widespread collapse of honey bee colonies—known as Colony Collapse Disorder—is threatening agricultural productivity worldwide. When scientists at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem discovered Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus (IAPV) and linked it to bee colony collapse, they launched a chain reaction of research. The result was Beeologics, an Israeli startup that worked to protect bees and promote their pollination of crops.

Further research is increasing crop yield and fostering the health and strength of our honey bee population. American Friends of The Hebrew University is proud to support Israel’s top ranked university—a global leader in research and higher education.
