Ariella Z. Barker, Cambridge, Massachusetts
Ariella Z. Barker is a Political Communications Fellow at the nonprofit organization RespectAbility. A political advisor, public speaker, and dedicated political activist in areas of disability, Ariella has a Juris Doctorate from Emory School of Law, and is earning an M.P.A. at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Ariella has fulfilled numerous leadership roles. An active member of the ROI Community through the Schusterman Family Foundation, she participated in the 2019 ROI World Summit in Jerusalem, presenting a session on the importance of disability inclusion in the nonprofit world. She has been involved with AIPAC and the Jewish Federation of Charlotte, N.C., working to fight the BDS movement and antisemitism. In 2014, Ariella was nominated Ms. Wheelchair North Carolina, and has fought to improve accessibility in Israel and the U.S.
In Ariella’s words: “I believe Hebrew University is the center from which Israel leads by example, and with Hebrew U. we can certainly pave the way toward Tikkun Olam. Because of the incredible innovations Hebrew University is responsible for creating, I hope the LEAD program will provide me with the skills necessary to encourage and develop social innovations that will improve the lives of Jews with disabilities throughout the world.”
