The Koret School of Veterinary Medicine

The Koret School of Veterinary Medicine is Israel’s first and only veterinary school and the foremost center of humanitarian veterinary medicine in the Middle East.  Bridging animal research and teaching clinical care, scientists work individually and on an interdisciplinary basis on research related to pressing health and environmental challenges including those in underdeveloped countries.

The Koret School’s many accomplishments include:

• Practical contributions in treatment and eradication of mad cow, the avian flu, leishmaniasis (common in the Middle East), and other diseases
• Pioneering brain surgery by Israel’s only board-certified veterinary neurologist (a Koret graduate) 
• Furthering the assistance of animals in human therapy and special education
• Sustaining formal and informal partnerships with top U.S. veterinary schools
• Attaining lead positions in Israel’s ministries and key industries
• Mirroring the Jewish moral value, tza’ar ba’alei chayim – prevention of cruelty to animals
