Erik Levis grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and is a dual American-French
citizen. Mr. Levis graduated Cum Laude from the School of Public
Communications at Syracuse University in May of 2000 with a B.S. majoring in
Broadcast Journalism and minoring in French. After graduation, he moved
back to Maryland for a year to work as the Sports Director at Cable News 21
in Rockville. He then moved to New York in the fall of 2001 to work first
as an Associate Producer at ABC News Radio, then as an Associate Producer at
USA Network before becoming a Production Assistant at the Food Network.
After almost three and a half years in television and radio, Erik became the
Director of Marketing at Jack L. Gordon Architects in March of 2004. In
August of 2004, Erik was able to combine his social action interests with
his professional life as the Manager of Jewish Network News at the
UJA-Federation of New York. Erik had been involved with both the
Taglit-Birthright Israel on the Alumni Leadership Board as well as a Charter
Member and Chair of Fuel for Truth. It was this area of interest that lead
Erik to pursue an MA in Society and Politics in Israel at the Rothberg
International School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Erik is about
to complete his first semester of coursework where he has been taking Hebrew
as well as Sociological Theories and Israeli Society, Israeli Society and
Politics, Multiple Voices of Israeli Society, and Consumer Culture and Mass
Media in Israel.
Erik is looking forward to coming home to the US for a
short break at the end of January before starting up in late February with
the spring semester. You can read more about Erik and his adventures on his
blog at http://www.eriklevis.blogspot.com.
