Hebrew University sponsoring free youth science programs this summer for 150 youths from north

Jerusalem, August 2, 2006 - youths displace by Free camping experiences for some 150 youths who have been displaced from their homes by the fighting in the north are being provided this summer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The youths, raging in ages from 9 through 18, are being hosted through the university’s Authority for Community and Youth at the Edmond J. Safra Campus at Givat Ram in Jerusalem and at the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Quality Sciences campus in Rehovot.

The authority has arranged for the youths to participate in the existing summer day camp science programs of the university’s Joseph Meyerhoff Youth Center for Advanced Studies, as well as in programs arranged especially for those from the north. High school-age campers will be housed in the Beit Bretter Youth Science Hostel on the Edmond J. Safra Campus and will make use there of the Belmonte Science Laboratories for Youth.

Costs for the programs are being borne by community volunteer organizations as well as by the Authority for Community and Youth.
