Charitable Remainder Trusts are ideal for individuals with assets that have appreciated in value and would be subject to significant tax liability if liquidated. These assets, such as securities, certain types of real estate, art and other tangible personal property, are typically generating little or no annual income. Due to capital gains taxes, there may also be a large loss of principal when these assets are sold.
If you establish a Charitable Remainder Trust, you may contribute your assets to AFHU without incurring capital gains tax. You may receive an immediate tax deduction on a significant portion of your contribution.
You or your designee will receive payments from the trust for life or for a specified number of years. At the end of this period, the remaining balance in the trust will be used to provide invaluable forms of support for future generations.
