AFHU and The Hebrew University are launching SOS: Support Our Students campaign to raise scholarship money for the deserving and talented students at Hebrew University.
Israel’s students face unique challenges. Most complete IDF military service before starting their higher education—and many continue to serve in reserve units while still in school. Older than American students, Israeli students often have families and young children to support. Without financial aid, thousands of students would not be able to attend Hebrew University. Your support provides students with the means to investigate, discover, and share their findings with the global community. Join us in supporting Israel’s future leaders, innovators and Nobel Prize winners. You can help Hebrew University students create better futures for all of us by contributing to the Support Our Students campaign.

Taher
Merit scholarship student Taher is a second-year student majoring in Psychobiology. He plans to become a child psychologist, and is interested in clinical work. Taher’s family is proud of his successes, and supports his goals. “My parents are waiting for the moment when I can become a true professional—like a psychologist who can help children.”
For Taher, making ends meet in Jerusalem can be challenging. “Living in the dormitory makes life easier because I am close to school but it does add to the expense,” he comments. Like many students, Taher uses the library to save money on books, and relies on campus computer labs to complete his coursework. Scholarship aid makes it possible for Taher, and students like him, to continue his studies.
Rachel
A PhD. candidate at the HU Institute for Medical Research, Rachel completed her bachelor’s degree at Hebrew University’s School of Pharmacy. She works with Professor Abraham Fainsod in the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Cellular Biochemistry and Human Genetics. Rachel is vitally interested in the field of developmental biology, an integral pursuit at the IMR, where interdisciplinary teams seek new ways to expand fundamental knowledge of the human body and to diagnose and treat a host of life-threatening diseases.
