Our Campaign Mission

AFHU, a national non-profit organization, exists to raise awareness of, and support for, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel’s foremost institution of higher learning and research. With 24,000 students and 1,200 faculty, The Hebrew University is a powerhouse for Israel and a beacon unto nations throughout the world.

Each year, new research projects and academic initiatives abound, activities that keep our university in the vanguard of higher education and spawn vital advances in fields ranging from biomedicine to Jewish Studies. As leading participants in the "Campaign for Hebrew University Students," American Friends of The Hebrew University are committed to ensuring that this top-ranked intellectual community has the resources needed to foster progress.

Fundraising Priorities

The multimillion dollar campaign has vital priorities, among these: establishing scholarships and fellowships for students; providing the resources needed for Hebrew University to recruit and retain outstanding new faculty and provide them with modern laboratory and classroom environments; funding crucial research projects; and creating new and upgraded facilities on all four campuses: Mount Scopus, Ein Kerem, Rehovot and the Edmond J. Safra Campus at Givat Ram.

Exciting current initiatives include raising support for Hebrew University’s interdisciplinary Institute for Medical Research, the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine, the Smith Institute of Plant Sciences, the Faculty of Dental Medicine, and the Mount Scopus Student Village.
