Please join us on Sunday, January 15th as American Friends pay tribute to Professor Emeritus Robert J. Aumann of Hebrew University's Center for the Study of Rationality. Robert J. Aumann, a co-recipient of the 2005 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, is renowned for his pioneering work in the field of game theory.
Born in Germany, Robert Aumann and his family fled to the United States in 1938, two weeks before the Kristallnacht riots. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the City College of New York, and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Immigrating to Israel in 1956, he joined Hebrew University's Mathematics faculty, where he taught for five decades. Professor Aumann, who has won the Israel Prize and many additional honors, is the author of six books and 100 scientific papers.
Professor Aumann's achievement marks the fifth time in four years that a Hebrew University alumnus or faculty member has won a Nobel Prize. |
