On Thursday, May 15, more than 120 guests gathered at Brentwood Country Club in Los Angeles to hear award-winning journalist Richard Chesnoff address the topic “Israel at 60: Will There Ever Be Peace?” at a reception hosted by Western Region Board Members Barry Lippman, Steve Good, Howard Schwimmer and Marvin Jubas.

Mr. Chesnoff’s remarks highlighted the extraordinary advances Israel has made since 1948 as it has moved rapidly from a poor and underdeveloped country of new immigrants to a high-tech powerhouse despite its need to defend itself militarily against foes which continue to question its legitimacy and have tried to destroy it from its inception. The event, part of an ongoing series of programs designed to educate AFHU supporters and friends about The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and important current events, featured cocktails and a buffet.
