The Scientist magazine has ranked The Hebrew University and the Weizmann Institute at the top of its list of academic institutions outside of the United States as the “Best Places to Work in Academia, 2010” in the field of life sciences.
The Hebrew University was ranked fifth on the list, and the Weizmann Institute was ranked second.
The ranking was based on a survey of 2,302 readers of the magazine or those who registered on its web site who identified themselves as life scientists working in or outside the United States. Participants of the ranking were asked to rank their working environment according to 38 criteria, which included level of salary, infrastructure and research resources.
The Hebrew University succeeded in surpassing some renowned institutions in Canada, France and Britain.
At the Hebrew University, 346 researchers in the field of life sciences published 9,914 articles in scientific journals in the life sciences over the period 2000-2010.
