Dental Medicine

Founded by the Alpha Omega Fraternity and formally dedicated in 1964, The Hebrew University-Hadassah Faculty of Dental Medicine was Israel’s first dental school and is still the nation’s foremost center for dental education.  Since its first class of 15 students, the School has trained more than 1,500 dental professionals.

Since its inception in 1997, the D. Walter Cohen Center has initiated joint scientific research projects, organized educational lectures and developed local programs in oral health.  Training programs have been created for dentists from the Palestinian Authority, Cyprus, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt and Morocco. In 1998, ten trainees from the Palestinian Authority, Jordan, Turkey and Cyprus gained access to a unique six-week continuing education course. Other programs have since been offered, and with the recent establishment of the Palestinian Faculty of Dentistry at Al Quds University, seven graduate students from Al Quds will receive advanced specialty training at The Hebrew University School of Dental Medicine.
