Daniel Schlessinger is the former Chairman and Managing Partner of Lord Bissell & Brook, LLP, which in the Fall of 2007 merged to form Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP. As Chairman, Dan placed heavy emphasis on elevating the firm’s commitment to diversity and pro bono service. Dan continues to represent pro bono clients through the National Immigrant Justice Center and Chicago Volunteer Legal Service, which twice has given him its Volunteer of the Year Award. He currently serves the firm as Co-Chairman of the Litigation Department and a member of the Executive Committee.
Dan has over 30 years of experience in business litigation and has handled a wide variety of lawsuits and arbitrations involving many types of business and insurance disputes. He has tried more than 30 cases to verdict or judicial ruling and has obtained summary relief in hundreds of others, including matters involving contractual disputes, unfair trade and Lanham Act claims, insurance and reinsurance disputes, mass torts and class actions.
An alumnus of Hebrew University, Dan has served the Midwest Region of the American Friends of The Hebrew University (AFHU) as a Board member for several years and as President for the last two years. He serves on AFHU’s National Board and is a former President of K.A.M. Isaiah Israel Congregation. Dan is a member of the Board of the University of Chicago Newberger Hillel Center and a member of the University of Illinois’ Illini Leadership Council. In 2006, he was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award by the University of Illinois College of Law.
