CHICAGO, IL, February 16, 2010 — The Honorable Terrence A. Duffy, Executive Chairman of CME Group, will receive the National Scopus Award from the American Friends of The Hebrew University (AFHU) at a gala dinner on March 11, 2010, at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel. George Will, Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper columnist and author, will deliver the keynote address. Jim Williams, anchor and reporter at Chicago’s CBS2 News will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
The National Scopus Award is the highest honor conferred by AFHU. It is awarded to individuals who demonstrate humanitarian concerns throughout their career, and recognizes outstanding community leaders who have maintained an active involvement in humanitarian causes of local, national and international scope. The award, named for Mount Scopus, where The Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s first cornerstones were laid in 1918, has come to symbolize the University’s highest ideals. Past recipients include Steven Spielberg, Barbra Streisand, Nancy Reagan, Frank Sinatra, Quincy Jones, Elie Wiesel, Zubin Mehta, Gregory Peck, and Kirk Douglas, among many others. AFHU Midwest Region recipients include Leo Melamed, Jerold S. Solovy, and James Matanky.
Mr. Duffy is a leader of several humanitarian, philanthropic, and educational organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Saint Xavier University, the Regional Advisory Board of The American Ireland Fund, and is Co-Chair of the Mayo Clinic Greater Chicago Leadership Council. Mr. Duffy is also Chairman of the NYMEX Foundation, whose mission is to fund and serve children in need, the elderly and local environmental causes, and Vice Chairman of the CME Group Foundation, whose mission is to enhance economic opportunity, health and education, especially for disadvantaged youth.
A leader in the financial sector, Mr. Duffy has served as Executive Chairman of CME Group since July 2007. In 2002, he was appointed by President Bush to serve on a National Saver Summit on Retirement Savings. In 2003, the U.S. Senate confirmed Mr. Duffy as a member of the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB), which administers the Thrift Savings Plan for federal employees that currently has more than 3.5 million participants and $190 billion under management. Mr. Duffy currently serves on the Board of Directors of World Business Chicago, and is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Executives’ Club of Chicago and the President’s Circle of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Since 2003, he has been recognized as one of the top 100 Irish Business Leaders by Irish America Magazine, and in 2007 he received a Doctor of Humane Letters from DePaul University.

Terry's life achievements exemplify Hebrew University's mission of 'sustaining the world,' making him an ideal recipient of the Scopus Award.”
The dinner will be chaired by Gary D. Cohn, President and COO of Goldman Sachs, and Leo Melamed, Chairman Emeritus of CME Group. Vice Chairs are: Charles P. Carey, CME Group; Craig Donohue, CME Group; Phupinder Gill, CME Group; Charles H. Goodman, Henry Crown & Co.; Judd Malkin, JMB Realty; John F. Sandner, CME Group; Sam Sallerson and Jeffrey Wolfson, SW Securities. Proceeds from the gala will go towards pediatric medical research at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The event will take place Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park Hotel, 200 North Columbus Drive, Chicago, IL.
